Wesley's Timeless Financial Advice

August 9, 2010 By Keith Drury - In: Feature Lifestyle

John Wesley's "Trilateral"

Since John Wesley preached and wrote on Bible topics he dealt often with “money” and “materialism.” He preached on 1 Timothy 6:9, warning of the dangers of wanting to be rich. He preached on the hazards of increasing riches (from Psalm 62:10). When preaching and writing on the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:19-23) he served up a tremendous amount of practical advice on legitimate expenses and excessive spending.

One Mosque and No Church

July 27, 2010 - In: Feature Lifestyle News

In the Këneta neighborhood of Durrës, Albania, the population totals 50,000 inhabitants. The number of churches in this section of the eastern Albania city pales in comparison: One mosque, one Mormon church, and no evangelical church.

In a country where Islam is the predominant form of religion, The Wesleyan Church has a presence, albeit a small one. Currently, two families of five and one single adult serve in Durrës, while another couple is raising financial support to serve in the city long-term.

Car Problems Lead to Salvation in Mozambique

July 23, 2010 By Tricia Allen - In: Feature Lifestyle News

Jim Pickett was scheduled to be in a northern province of Mozambique for a May baptismal service. But hours away from home–and his destination–his car broke down on the side of the road.

He and Pastor Chicana, a native of Mozambique, got the vehicle to the provincial capital for repairs but were still 10 hours from their northern destination. Jim knew he’d be forced to make other arrangements for the service.
