Evangelism Online

Pastor Mark Stevenson of Daybreak [Wesleyan] Church in Atlanta, Georgia, tells a heartwarming story on lifestyle evangelism, which he discovered during a hospital visit:

I went to make a hospital visit early this morning at Eggleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta. I was there to visit Elizabeth (Lizzy), the bright and beautiful 14-year-old daughter of  Denise Youngblood. Denise and her two children attend Daybreak. Lizzy, who has Cystic Fibrosis was undergoing a procedure to clear her lungs...again. This was her sixth procedure.

As we chatted, her mother told me that the previous evening Lizzy was very apprehensive and decided to go log on to Internet and talk to her friends on Facebook.

She “talked” online to a friend in London, England, to whom she has been witnessing. Her friend lives on the streets, having been kicked out of her home at age16 and had tried to commit suicide. Even with all her physical problems, Lizzy keeps on witnessing. She believes this friend, whom she has never met, will come to know Christ. What a testimony of lifestyle evangelism and passion for the lost!

Both Denise and Lizzy became more serious about sharing their faith after attending Daybreak’s class on evangelism. Lizzy continues to shares her faith, both online and in-person. While visiting a family member who was close to death, Lizzy was able to lead her to Jesus before she passed away. The evangelism class never had more than five people in attendance, but I’m sure Lizzy’s Aunt Sharon is rejoicing in heaven today and glad that her niece shared her faith with her and led her to a point of decision.
