Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, a university of the Fishers, Indiana based denomination, The Wesleyan Church, has released a news story regarding a graduate who was among ten humanitarian workers killed by the Taliban:
Cheryl Marie Beckett, who graduated with honors from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2000, was among the 10 medical volunteers who were shot to death last week in Afghanistan by the Taliban. She was 32 years old.

Since John Wesley preached and wrote on Bible topics he dealt often with “money” and “materialism.” He preached on 1 Timothy 6:9, warning of the dangers of wanting to be rich. He preached on the hazards of increasing riches (from Psalm 62:10). When preaching and writing on the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:19-23) he served up a tremendous amount of practical advice on legitimate expenses and excessive spending.

In the Këneta neighborhood of Durrës, Albania, the population totals 50,000 inhabitants. The number of churches in this section of the eastern Albania city pales in comparison: One mosque, one Mormon church, and no evangelical church.
In a country where Islam is the predominant form of religion, The Wesleyan Church has a presence, albeit a small one. Currently, two families of five and one single adult serve in Durrës, while another couple is raising financial support to serve in the city long-term.
